Mary has over 40 years’ experience in the area of Obstetrics in hospitals. She has worked in the Labor and Delivery and Post-Partum areas as well as obtaining her Low-Risk Neonatal Certification and provided care for many at risk as well as ill newborns.
Mary began her career as a Registered Nurse in Renton, Washington in 1974. While working at Valley General hospital, she obtained a transfer into the Obstetrics Department and began a lifelong love of the field. It would lead her through California, Illinois and back to Washington State before her retirement. While pursuing her work, she continued her education leading her to a Low-risk Neonatal Certification as well as increasing her skills in care of newborns and their mothers. She was able to get in on the ground floor of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and became an active instructor, teaching Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Physicians and Midwives for over 18 years.
Mary has been active in her children’s activities as well during their school and college years. She also has knowledge of the Military life as she has been the wife of a Navy Officer. Throughout his career in the military, Mary has been supportive and understanding in keeping the home fires burning as he was away on deployment.
Mary has many hobbies including quilting, gardening. She is active in her church with singing and guitar playing for services. She has trained dogs with an active Kennel Club and was assistant 4-H leader for her children. She and her husband currently live in Depoe Bay, Oregon with their two dogs. A favorite vacation is traveling to see their children, grandchildren, and their military friends.
